Using vnc server on GNU/ openSUSE 11.1 server.

The final result for this tutorial is how to install the VNC server and access the VNC server from any client browser. In this tutorial i use the Google chrome for example. Make sure your browser support for Java & Flash applications.

Step 1. Installing the VNC server on GNU/ openSUSE 11.1 server. Run yast on your GNU/ openSUSE 11.1 server, please the see image 1.

Step 2. After you run the yast select the application on the list. Please see the image 2.

Step 3. After finish the installation of VNC server on GNU/ openSUSE 11.1 server, is not automatically running on your server. You need to start the the VNC server, to start the VNC server you need to login/ using the root credentials. please see the image 3.  

Here is the command hw to run the VNC server on Suse server.

suseserver:~ # vncserver

If your installation OK, you see this message:

New 'X' desktop is suseserver:2

Starting applications specified in /root/.vnc/xstartup

Log file is /root/.vnc/suseserver:2.log

Now your VNC server already running on your Suse server.

Step 4. Now you can test you VNC server from your browser,  with typing the name server and also the port of VNC server running. Normally they using port 5801. With this command: http://your server ip:5801/ you will see your fully desktop running from your browser.  Please see the image 4.

Scale image in Gimp

I dedicated this tutorial for my lovely brother Mohamad Gozali Firdaus, that always support and share his experience in Information and Communication Technology as lecturer in University of Muhammadiyah - Jember.

Final destination of this tutorial is to make a post card photo with 4x6 inch or 4R in photo standard layout using Gimp application. Thank to all programmer of Gimp for creating very good application image editing in GNU/Linux, Mac & Windows operating system for free use.

First create the layout 4x6 inch gimp, please see image 0.





Next, open image as layers in open menu in Gimp application. see picture 1.



The image will appear on the layout of your Gimp, please see image 2.




Not nice image, i know that... next step is open the dock layer from menu of gimp, see the 3 image.




After you open the layer dock, you will see the layer dock. See the picture 4.



Right click on the layer image you want to scale. Please see image 5.



After you click the "scale layer" the dialog box will appear on the front of your gimp applications, you can change the image according to what do you want. See the image 6.



After i scale the layer image & move little bit of my picture, here is the final result. Please see image 6.

Linux untuk dunia Pendidikan

Beberapa hari yang lalu, saya mendapat tawaran lagi untuk menyumbangkan ilmu tentang dunia IT yang berkaitan dengan GNU/Linux di dunia pendidikan. Mungkin bagi sebagian orang yang awam tentang dunia IT, akan bingung tentang GNU/Linux itu sendiri. Apaan sih GNU/Linux? Barang apa GNU/Linux itu?

GNU/Linux, orang biasa menyebutnya secara singkat Linux. Saya akan coba menjelaskan apa sih Linux itu secara bertahap keuntungan dan kekurang Linux dibanding operating system yang lain.

Secara singkat saja Linux adalah sebuah operating system yang biasa kita kita pakai untuk menjalankan sebuah komputer, mungkin Windows XP atau Windows Vista lebih dikenal oleh sebagian orang yang awam tentang dunia komputer. Bagaimana menyembunyikan comment di Blogger.com

Salam semua, 

Kali ini saya akan mencoba menjelaskan bagaimana menyembunyikan comments yang masuk kedalam blog kita yang berada di www.blogger.com.  Artikel ini di request oleh Ibu Budi Handayani, dari SMK Penerbangan Sidoarjo. Baiklah mari kita mulai, pastikan anda telah login ke dalam blog anda sehingga akan muncul tampilah sebagai berikut.

Jika kita perhatikan ada 3 tab, posting, settings, dan layout. Arahkan pilihan anda pada pilihan setting, perhatikan gambar dibawah.

Setelah menu setting kita klik maka akan ada banyak tab-tab baru, pilih bagian comments. Perhatikan gambar dibawah.

Setelah memilih comments, maka akan ada banyak pilihan, yang salah satunya dibagian yang paling atas adalah "Comments", perhatikan gambar dibawah.

Opsi pertama adalah Show (untuk menampilkan comments langsung tanpa ada menyaringan apakah comment itu baik atau buruk). 

Opsi kedua adalah Hide (semua comment tidak ditampilkan terlebih dahulu atau disembunyikan, kita bisa memilihnya nanti dikemudian hari mana comment yang baik dan yang buruk, kemudian menampilkannya nanti setelah kita setujui).

• Can block adverts by the use of an advert URL block list.
• Can filter text and HTML pages for obscene (sexual, racial, violent, etc) content.
• Uses an advanced phrase weighting system to reduce over or under blocking.

• Can filter according to MIME type and file extension.
• Can filter according to URLs including Regular Expression URLs.
